May 13, 201511 yr The Bourbon Open golf tournament is playing its 70th installment this year at My Old Kentucky Home Golf Course in Bardstown. It is the oldest tournament in Kentucky, from what I can tell. The tournament usually features foursomes from all across the country, with many groups treating it as a reunion of sorts for old friends. Sure, there's golf. But the main thing is the partying, the legendary nature of which drew the interest of national writers for the AP in the 1950s and even Sports Illustrated in 1963. It's not exactly like watching the Masters or anything. The atmosphere is much more casual and social. There are usually a few dozen people each year with legit designs on winning the title and prize package (which, of course, features bourbon). There are a lot of random prizes as well, so even somebody who stumbles through a 120 can still be a winner. Anybody coming to Bardstown to participate in the golf and revelry?
