May 11, 201511 yr Impressive comeback by the Cards. After playing uninspired baseball on both offense (0 runs on a bases loaded, 0 out situation) and pitching (more walks after a FRI and SAT full of them) and trailing 5-0 going into the bottom of the 6th, Cards rallied for 2 runs with 2 out in the 6th and got a HUGE 2 out bomb from Solak in the 7th to tie it. Not to be outdone by Fitch's offensive heroics at C on SAT, Will Smith blasts his 1st collegiate HR in the 8th to put the Cards up 6-5. Burdi pitches a scoreless 8th & 9th for the W. Huge comeback on a huge weekend at JPat for the Cards. Big mid-week matchup with Top 10 Vandy tomorrow night before heading to Raleigh to finish the regular season THU - SAT at NC State and then on to the ACC Tourney at Crash Davis' ballpark in Durham (yes - I know it is actually a new ballpark and not the one in Bull Durham, but it is still where the Bulls play!)
May 12, 201511 yr Think this is Coach Macs finest coaching job. I expected this team to compete for Ws on Friday night with Funk and scramble on Sat and Sun. Despite some significant defensive challenges, really only one top shelf ACC caliber OF, and as you said a staff that at times struggles to throw strikes, they may already be a lock for a national top 8 seed. I think in the end those weaknesses get them, especially if they host a team line Vandy in the Super, but this year has already far exceeded my expectations. The next three years should be really fun, recruiting is at an all time level both for pitchers and in the field. I think every kid committed through the 2017 class is a PG All American. Gonna be awesome
