I have noticed the lock symbol on thread titles? What are these tags used for. It looks like Cov Cath has them on threads with their name. Is this used to make it easier to look up info on team which has tagged threads with their name in it?

The locks on the thread titles mean the thread has been closed by the moderators/administrators. When you're seeing them here in the high school baseball forum, it generally applies to prediction threads or game update threads. We close prediction threads once the games have started, and we close game update threads after the games have ended. Otherwise, threads are closed once they've run their course here, or if they get out of hand for some reason or another.

 

As for tagging, think of that as a 'quick search' method. If you click a certain tag, such as the "cov cath" tag, which you mentioned, it will automatically bring up all other threads that have been similarly tagged. Adding tags is one of the Premium Member benefits. So long as a thread is opened, it can be tagged by any Premium User. If you are a Premium User starting a thread, you have the ability to add up to (5) unique tags to the thread. If you are a Premium User and wish to tag a thread started by someone else, you can add up to (3) unique tags.

 

For what it's worth, I'm the one who has added about 95% of the "cov cath" tags to the applicable threads.
