The Cru's Jordan Kramer got the best of the Breds tonight, as she strikes out 11 Breds batters, on her way to the 2-0 shutout and tomorrow nights appearance in the 9th Region All A finals at NKU vs. the Dayton Greendevils. Dayton won a thrilling 10-7 victory in 8 innings over Lloyd in the 1st Semi-Final game.

 

In a game that saw few scoring opportunities by both teams, it was the Cru that capitalized. St. Henry had two on and two out in the 2nd and in the 4th following their 1st hit of the game, a Gabby Stewart lead off single to left, one out later Carlie Roark threads the needle between Ware (SS) and Zimmerman (3B) and the Cru have them at 1st and 2nd. However, Meyers induces a PO-4 and a K to end the threat.

 

In the top of the 5th with two out and the sacks juiced (that's bases loaded for those not in tune with the lingo), St. Henry Sr. 3rd baseman Molly Dietz drives in Carlie Townsend, who doubled to lead the inning off, on a ball that just goes off the glove of a diving Michaela Ware at short for the infield single. The next batter, Carlie Roark, hits a comebacker to Haley Meyers who mis-handles the ball, picks it up and then tries to throw home for the force, but it's too late and the Cru get their only two runs.

 

NewCath had only two scoring threats as well. In the 3rd with one out, Lexi Potts singles to center, Ware bunts her over to 2nd, and she advances to 3rd on Casey Kohls single to left. However, during Kristen Schreiber's at bat, Potts strays to far off 3rd and she is put out 2-5-2 to end the inning. In the 7th Zimmerman leads off with a single to right-center, is erased on a FC1-6 by Morgan Martini, Haley Meyers draws the only walk issued by Kramer, but Kramer gets the next Breds to strikeout.

Nice report. J. Kramer issued just one walk on the nite and pitched her best in a big game. Good luck Lady Cru in championship game.
