Well boys and girls it was DEFINITELY NOT softball weather out there today.......however the Breds and the Red Colonels went ahead and played on this cold, windy, rainy day nonetheless in Newport, although the game was called after 6 innings. Seemed like the temp dropped 30 degrees in a matter of and hour right before game time, and before this one started the JV game was canceled.......THANK GOD!!! Anyway on to the action......

Dixie 1st - a two-out Mary Beth Odom single just out of the reach of Ware and Kohls behind the 2nd base bag was all the Red Colonels could muster.

NewCath 1st - Michaela Ware leads off with a bunt single and steals 2nd. Then one out later, Kristen Schreiber with a "no doubter", as she sends the Courtney Garrett offering a good 30 feet+ over the left-field fence, for the 1st ever HR hit on the Breds new field.

Dixie 2nd - lead off walk, sac bunt, 2 K's.

NewCath 2nd - Haley Meyers lead off missile up the middle is it.

Dixie 3rd - lead off walk, then a one-out RBI double to the fence in left-center off the bat of Madison Ingle. Next up is Mary Beth Odom and she hits a one hopper to Ware at short who throws on to Zimmerman at 3rd to get Ingle.

NewCath 3rd - Casey Kohls gets a one-out single to left, steals 2nd. Schreiber walks and Loren Zimmerman hits one in the right-center gap, Kohls scores, but Schreiber is gunned down at 3rd.

Dixie 4th - a walk, a single, and an error and Dixie is in "Fat City" with no one out. However, Megan Estenfelder lines out HARD to 1st, a K, and a grounder back to Meyers in the circle ends the threat.

NewCath 4th - with 2 out and 2 on (via walks), Ware with a single to right scores one, a passed ball gets another run across. Kohls walks, then the big blow.....Kristen Schreiber with a double that one hops the center-field fence to plate 2 more.

Dixie 5th - A ground-out to Ware at short, a walk, then a beautifully turned 6-4-3 "twin killing".

NewCath 5th - Morgan Martini leads off with a walk, one out later another walk, and Martini scores on an errant throw on Lexi Breen's roller to 2nd.

Dixie 6th - Kaylee McGinn leads off with a bunt single, and moves to 3rd on consecutive wild pitches. Following a K, a hit batsman, a K, and another walk....the "sacks are juiced". However Meyers induces a comebacker and that's your ballgame.

Dixie ......0-0-1-0-0-0---1-4-1 Ingle 2B, RBI

NewCath 2-0-1-4-1-x---8-7-1 Schreiber 2-2, 2B, HR, 4RBI Meyers (3-0) 6K's, 4 hits, 5BB

Breds are off till Thursday when they travel to Hebron to take on Conner.
