Catholic was 1-6 from 3 in the first quarter. If they don't heat up soon, it's not going to look good for them. They have no answer for Ross Jenkins so far and Coach Mendenhall has already gave Jenkins a big rest for the later part of the 1st quarter, so he'll be able to keep him fresh.

Reese Ryan hits a three on a penetrate and kick and Cath leads 12-11.

Cath flattens it out and Griffin goes one on one and hits a tough layup over Ross Jenkins.

JMO, but they are letting them get away with a lot against Jenkins in the post. Lots of hacking.

Carpenter penetrates and goes all the way in for 2. Tanner Johnson grabs the ball out of the next and hits a breaking out Jarod Griffin for a layup that he hits as time expires.

 

Tied at 21 at the half.

 

Expect the scoring to ratchet up after halftime. Catholic started cold and Lafayette can't hit a free throw.

Thought Lafayette did a good job of chasing down some long rebounds.

 

Lexington Catholic did some nice jobs picking their spots and you can tell they've scouted well. When Carpenter got deep on that penetration, you just had the feeling that the Catholics had been coached to try and run out on Lafayette when they got deep penetration from their guards.
