gold sunrise Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 GRC is the winner of the 40th district tourney. Way to go girls. GRC and Bourbon Co will both advance to the regional tourney held at GRC this year.
Dozer61 Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Great Job with the updates Goldie. But question.....you mentioned Skinner out for injury then back in and missed 8 straight from the line. She is a great player and I know this is uncharacteristic of her. Is she OK, or did the injury affect her shooting? Congrats to both teams on great seasons and a big shout out to GRC on the win.
MNCM Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Way to go Lady Cards! Keep up the good work next week! Lot's of tough teams to come!

They must improve this for the regional next week. I am sure they will address this in practice this week.
gold sunrise Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 GRC Hoops Wins 2nd Straight 40th District Championship Jasmine Flowers scored 16 points, helping George Rogers Clark win the 2015 40th District Championship with a 68-57 victory over Bourbon County on Thursday. Claiming a 30-25 lead at the half, George Rogers Clark pulled ahead early in the game. Flowers blazed a trail for George Rogers Clark’s offense with 16 points, including 10 points during the first period. Sydney Anderson made it into double digits, scoring 11 points for George Rogers Clark (3-for-10). Paige Taylor (12 points) and Kaytlynn Williams (11) each had multiple three-pointers. Also helping the effort for George Rogers Clark were Elizabeth Hardiman (6 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks), Sandra Skinner (6 points, 8 rebounds, 1 block) and Kylee Murray (5 points, 2 rebounds). George Rogers Clark finished the game with 36 rebounds (10 offensive/26 defensive), three blocks and seven steals. Anderson and Flowers, who were both celebrating their birthdays today, each received another gift in addition to the championship by being selected as part of the all tournament team. Anderson, Skinner, and Taylor all were voted by the 40th District coaches to the all 40th District team for their play during the season. THEBUZZERBEATER Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Skinner was never injured during this game. She was in early foul trouble in the first quarter with 2, other big for GRC picked up 2 in the first half as well. Skinner wasn't very good from the foul line. I think at one point in the 2nd half she was 0-8 from the line. GRC better be thankful for the 3 line in the first half with Taylor, Williams, Flowers or else this is not a 5 point lead at the half for GRC. On another note, GRC found just what they needed in a immediate transfer, what they were lacking, a guard that can handle the ball and score.

Is this the young Lady who was the subject of a lot of controversy in another thread? Something to do with a mid season school change?
THEBUZZERBEATER Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 [/b] Is this the young Lady who was the subject of a lot of controversy in another thread? Something to do with a mid season school change? Yes- Flowers is the players name. She is wearing #50 in the picture above.

I stated she was shaken up when going for a rebound and she went out of the game , but came back in.
THEBUZZERBEATER Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 We must have watched two different games then! She was taken out in the first half for foul trouble, run back in for offense situations, and when dead ball whistles blew, removed each time on defense to protect her. Picked up the 3rd personal foul early in the third quarter and was removed. She was then removed out of the game after going 0-8 from the foul line down the stretch because it was obvious that Bourbon was going to foul her and she wasn't even close at the line. That might have been the shake up!
jakeandabby Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 The play Goldie is referring to was a play in the 2nd half. Skinner caught a "home run ball" pass over bourbon's press. She scored and as she turned to go on defense she and Yazell from bourbon collided. The officials stopped the game and coach Graham removed Skinner from the game to ensure she wasn't hurt. You are correct that she struggled from the FT line and that she was being used in offense/defense situation as it become Bourbon's game plan to foul her if she had the ball.

This is the play I am talking about and mentioned it in the update thread but not to this detail. Thanks for explaining it for the rest of the posters. :thumb:
