February 2, 201511 yr I've heard of it, but never seen or shot one. Some of these smaller rounds are pretty mean these days, particularly the ones that havent been around for a long time. I have an FNH 5.7 that shoots a small round, but at rifle like speeds. It's the most accurate handgun I've ever shot. It's essentially a shortened .223 (.224) round, but still fires at over 2000fps. The velocity alone will introduce hydrostatic shock, however the projectile is designed to tumble upon impact, making the wound cavity the size of the length of the bullet, rather than the diameter. It also holds a 20 round clip. They make solid steel rounds for it available to law enforcement and military that will penetrate a level 3 vest. With today's technology, they have been able to make improvements on these smaller cartridges. They may not be the best for home defense, but they make good cary guns. Accuracy goes a long way in my mind, any round can be efficient if your a decent shot and have an accurate weapon.
