9th Region 2006-2007

Of course it's early but we can see how accurate our top 10's are 8 months from now.....

 

Top 10 Teams

1. CovCath- Two words: TJ, Bo. Nice supporting cast of players who know their roles also.

2. Holmes- Can they pull it together? I'm sure that fballstud06 will tell us yes, it will be interesting to see. Hill should be a man as expected.

3. Holy Cross- Solid group in Scruggs, Ryan, Giwa, Sorrell, and Eifert

4. NewCath- Kiernan is a monster, and the Class of 07 was solid a few years ago, should be fun to watch with Coach Brennan.

5. St. Henry- Should win district, Lenhof is underrated, Kuebbing and Recthin are athletic inside.

6. Dixie- Lose perennial star Lawson, but should have a relatively deep team. Will Kendall be ready?

7. Ryle- Solid, physical team. Mailey is a good player, and Nelson is getting better.

8. Highlands- lose a ton, but COY Schlarman's physical style fits their big JV team. If Simpson becomes a go to guy, they will rise in the ranks quickly.

9. Boone- Always do well, not too familiar with the players other than Farris though.

10. Conner- Lose a good amount of talent, but they are ready around tourney time.

 

Top 10 players

1. Austin Hill- Holmes- Big, athletic, and a shooter, an offensive machine.

2. Todd Jacobs- CovCath- Great shooter who passes when he needs to. Is becoming an increasingly good rebounder also.

3. Duran Jefferson-Holmes- stock might have fell a little this year for some reason, but is still the top point guard.

4. Zach Kiernan-NewCath- The only proven inside scorer.

5. Kurt Bovard- CovCath- great shooter, defender, and athlete. Loss of Tierney means a lot more depending on him for a little bit of everything.

6. Jimmy Ryan-Holy Cross- perhaps the best shooter in the region, also has good speed to match his height.

7. Brandon Lenhof- St. Henry- very underrated, solid scorer.

8. Arrez Henderson- Holmes- can jump (of course), plays his role well.

9. Nic Simpson- Highlands- On of the most athletic players in the region, will have a new role to play.

10. ????? Scruggs, Kuebbing, Edmonson (if he is still here), or someone else. Fill it in for me.

 

Looks to be another incredibly guard heavy year, especially with Rice gone.

 

Champion could make some noise down at state, you never know.

 

District winners- Holmes, St. Henry, NewCath, Dixie.

 

35th district has the past 3 Region winners, should get a 4th this year.
