ColonelMike
Collins was going to be a tough nut to crack, regardless, but South was really handicapped with their two leading scorers out and their top reserve. The Dragons started a freshman (first varsity start), three sophomores, and one senior. The senior - Matt Catinna - had a really nice game on the inside, hitting 6 of 12 shots, scoring 13 points, and grabbing 7 rebounds, but the rest of the Dragons didn't shoot well. Collins (unofficially) won the rebounding war, 28-20, and didn't turn over the ball like the young Dragons did. South took 24 of their 49 shots from beyond the arc, and hit 8, but the concentration on the perimeter helped keep Collins out of foul trouble; South took only 5 free throw attempts, making 5. Titans got a lot of help from their full-court defense, turning a lot of South backcourt turnovers into points. Very business-like win for the TItans, who improve to 11-5; South falls to 5-11.
