George Rogers Clark 60 Woodford County 36

GRC gave Woodford Co their first loss of the season. Not a good outside shooting night for the Cards as they only hit 2, 3 pointers. But our defense was outstanding. M Isreal should be the player of the game and he didn't score a point. Man was he everywhere and really caused them problems on the offensive side. GRC improves to 4-2.

Best game I've seen Green play.

Jones also threw down a dunk in the third quarter as the Cardinals defeated the Yellowjackets, 60-36.

George Rogers Clark High School’s pressure defense took the sting out of Woodford County Tuesday night.

The Cardinals (4-2) forced 27 turnovers and scored 34 points off those miscues in a convincing 60-36 victory over the Yellowjackets. The win was the second in a row for Clark, while Woodford’s first loss of the season dropped them to 3-1 on the year.

For 32 minutes, we were really active tonight,” Clark coach Scott Humphrey said. “I thought Malachi (Israel) was tremendous. I thought he just really set the tone defensively. He took four charges and he really just harassed them all night long all over the court. The team just kind of fed off him and it was just a strong night on the defensive end.”

Although dominating defensively, Humphrey said it’s a game his team can build on on the offensive end, following a 2-19 performance behind the arc.

“They were good shots and in rhythm but they just didn’t fall,” Humphrey said. “Our kids continued to battle and we were able to hold them to 36 (points).
