Best in Hoops Classic

Best in Hoops Tournament moves to its final day on Sunday.

1:30 pm 7th place game Ashland vs. Paul Laurence Dunbar Both teams looking for first win. Injury issues with the Tomcats' two best players would seem to favor the Bulldogs.

3:30 pm 5th place game Central vs. Male Two teams that want to go go go. This will be an extremely fast paced game. Male with the decided height advantage across the board, but Central plays tenacious defense. Turnovers might be the deciding factor; Central has had trouble in this department all season, and that might be enough to give the Bulldogs the deciding advantage.

5:30 pm 3rd place game Simon Kenton vs. St. Xavier This should be a real good game. Pioneers and Tigers both lost competitive games in the semis; X seems capable of playing games in a lot of ways. SK has size advantage at most positions. This game looks like a toss up, but if Matt Mullins an get untracked for SK (he's been largely silent offensively this tourney), that could be the advantage SK needs.

7:30 pm Championship Oldham County vs. Eastern In the end, the two favorites meet in the final. Both ranked teams, according to bluegrasspreps and both undefeated. Both very well coached, very, very deep, and athletic. Cameron Reed propelled Eastern to the win over Ashland with a 34 point outing.....it was the big man's turn in the second round, as six nine senior center Trey Moses dominated against Simon Kenton. Both stars are Division 1 signees. Oldham has won nine games against a variety of styles and has shown a very very deep and productive bench. The Colonels don't have a single star, but generally get double figure scoring from a number of players. This one looks to be a toss up, but I like the Colonels if Moses gets into foul trouble as he did against Ashland. If he stays on the floor as he did against SK, it'll be interesting to see how the Colonels fare.
