Absolute heartbreaker for the Lions...

Congrats to the Comets and their first playoff appearance since 2011.

Congrats to the Comets. I've given the wounds time to heal since last night. The Lions defense got burned multiple times by the read option attack of West Carter. LC made some changes in the second half and made more explosive plays on the offensive side of the ball, just dug too deep of a hole in the first half (West led 27-12 at halftime). Good luck in the playoffs Comets.

Would love to hear from OLinePride on what he thinks about this one

I try to avoid commenting on our games, but I will say this...two teams playing for the exact same playoff spot...under a minute to go down 4 and we are inside the 10...man, that's intense. It's one of those situations that reminds you how awesome it is to get to coach these great young men...even when it doesn't work out. Going 0-5 on conversions made a big difference in this game. I've beat myself up all weekend, but we have to pick it up and start thinking about magoffin. This senior class is pretty special. Working with them in 8th grade and throughout HS has been a blast.

When someone mentions some of the other good teams around us, and they say things like, "man it'd be great to have those athletes"...it doesn't take long for me to think about what Coach Corky Prater said a few years back. He said he'd rather win a few games coaching our kids rather than go 10-0 with someone else's kids. I do take pride in our kids and our program. Losing sucks, and I hate to lose at anything, but we still have one more night...senior night...for this team to go out and play like we know they can. West carter earned that spot. As much as I wish it was us, we had our chance...came up just that short. I think a lot of our fans had almost accepted defeat...but that opening kick of the 2nd half was like a b12 shot. We dominated the second half and we fought back. Very proud of that. There's no other place I'd rather be an assistant coach at!

Thanks for your input coach. We really moved the ball at will in the second half, no one is to blame for what happened. Play calls were at times questionable (I would have given the ball to Stamm and Everman on first and second down on the last set of downs we had). But I really liked what i seen out of our backfield and i actually think having Everman in there at fullback made a huge difference. If that could have been our backfield all year with Thurman at guard, our offense would have been a lot better, IMO.

Yeah, there were some play calls that I wish I had back, but we were in rythym moving the ball in the second half and I can't say that I regret the last four play calls. I do regret that we both scored 5 TD's, but we are 0-5 on conversions while west added two pats and a 2-pt conversion. Also, we drove into the red zone in the first half and didnt score...another regret. I think Everman did a great job filling in for Mason. He will be a huge factor for us next season. We've had a pretty good run of fullbacks at Lewis. A trend that I think will continue for a while. Our last two #44's have been pretty good. ?
