Columbus Hartley (OH) 35 Columbus Beechcroft (OH) 20

I am no longer allowed to include GAME REPORT in the heading.

Last night at Hartley high school the home team Hawks again showed just how well coached they are with a 15 point dominating win again Beechcroft, who came in undefeated.

I think the biggest difference in this one, when all was said and done was how sound Hartley was in all of the things they do. Beechcroft was dominated up front especially by the Hawks defensive line. That's just my opinion so take it for what it is worth, and that is very little.

First quarter.

On the 2nd play from the line of scrimmage the Hawks made a gigantic statement on how this one was going to go when, quarterback Jake Ruby kept the ball on a counter and turned on the speed as he went to his left and out ran the entire Beechcroft defense on his way ti a 76-yard score. The point after was good by Ben Hawk to make this a, 7-0 game just forty seconds into the contest.

The Hawks offense would get a nice run by Quri Hickman, who over powered one tackler and if not for Sincere Henderson the run would have been much bigger.(Thanks to the P.A. guy I was able to get the tacklers name on the play. The quarter still had 7:40 left and the Hawks offense was moving the ball well at this point.

At the 5:51 mark Cam'Ron Culver picked up a first down on a hard run, making the tackle for the Cougars was the talented David Peoples.

3:49 showed on the clock when Culver picked up 28-yards on another fine run, Asen Crego was given credit for the tackle by the P.A. guy.

The 10-play, 80-yard drive ended with a 2-yard touchdown run by Quri Hickman, with 3:49 left in the quarter. The point after gave the home town team a, 14-0 lead.

The last big play of the quarter came when AarinSmoot-Bakersacked Ruby for a six yard loss at the 1;20 mark.

2nd quarter

There are times when you watch a game and say this one is over after a big play and many times those setting around you will see the same thing. In this game that would happen when, the Hawks pulled off a great fake punt on a great call by the Hawks staff, deep inside its own territory.

with 10:29 left in the quarter and the wind picking up big time the Cougars elected to go to the air and if not for a nice play by Rian Anderson, who hit the Cougars talented receiver, Mike Powers pretty hard the Cougars would have had a nice gain.

The play of the game came with 8;17 left and the Hawks facing a fourth and long at its own 13-yard-line. In punt formation and most of the fans I was setting beside on the Cougars side screaming watch the fake, the hawks snapped the ball to Cavel Bennett and he raced to his left and did not stop until he was hit at his own 41-yard-line. Right then and there I said checkmate game over.

Ruby would pick up 20 more yards at the 7:56 mark on a nice run where he was stopped by Rodell Rahman and Crego.

Jack Zang #45 for the Hawks picked up 8-yards on another run where the Hawks offensive line opened up a big hole.

All of the Hawks backs run the ball like they are in a bad mood and they make it hard on the defense to bring them down.

The nine play, 91-yard drive came to an end for the Hawks when, Culver broke to his right and scored from 10-yards. The point after made this a, 21-0 game and the crowd from Beechcroft seem to be stunned but remained hopeful as they continued to be loud and root their squad on.

The quarter would have one more play of note and that occurred with 52.6 seconds left, when Tayron Washington batted down a pass thrown by Macyah Fleming, the Cougars quarterback. Fleming ended the half just 2-12 with many balls be dropped by his receivers.

3rd Quarter

The Cougars unofficially had just 79-yards of offense it he first half.

At the 10:31 mark of the quarter they would they added 76-yards when the speedy and talented David Peoples raced down the sideline for a much needed Cougars score. The point after was hit easily by the very talented kicker for the Cougars, CeesayAbbas. The drive took three plays and went for 85-yards.

The Hawks offense was back at it with 5:51 left in the quarter. Fleming connected with Powers on a third and long play to pick up a huge first down.

With 4:10 left in the quarter the 2nd biggest play of the game took place. Fleming was hit hard by Keith Key causing the ball to hit the turf and coming up with it for the home team was Sean Gilmore.

Hickman would run over and trough two Cougars on his way to a 26-yard gain. As I said before every Hawks ball carrier runs like they are in a bad move9Meaning they run very, very hard)

The Five -play, 40-yard drive ended with a Hickman two-yard plow up the gut as he followed his linemen into the end zone. The point after kick made this a 28-7 with 2:40 left in the quarter and removed any doubt about who was winning this game.

With 2:20 left in the quarter Fleming again would be hit by Washington leading to a nine-yard-loss.

Fleming would get a little redemption when he scrambled around looking for a receiver after he could not find any opened, he took off on a long run picking up the first down o, on what was a third and long situation. That was the last significant play of the quarter and it came at the 1:29 mark.

4TH Quarter

Te last quarter would see three scores. Two by the Cougars and one by the home team, Hawks.

The first was by the Cougars and happened when Peoples took the snap and scored from three yards out.

I along with all of the fans setting around me was completely puzzled when the Cougars went for two, a play in which the Hawks stuffed rather easily. This left the score, 28-13.

The Hawks would end a 12-play, 80-yard drive with a 13-yard run by Zang. The point after made this a, 35-13 game.

The final score of the game came with 5.3 seconds left when Fleming connected with Powers on a 24-yard score. The point after made the score, 35-20 and that was how this one would end.

Did 57 actually read this?

What did you think of the report?

No interest I'm guessing. I viewed only because I thought maybe it had something to do with Elder but didn't bother reading because you lost my interest from the start. It's Elder week for Highlands and that's really all I care about. Did it have anything to do with Elder?

Looks like zero interest my friend!
