LongTimeReader Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Last Week St. X 46 Central 6 The Tigers improved their record to 4-2 with a 46-6 win over the Central Yellowjackets. The Tigers got the scoring going when Central fumbled on the first play of the game and the Tigers recovered, which set up the Tigers at Central's 20 yard line. Senior running back Taijon Smith first carry of the game was a 20 yard TD run. That was all the Tigers needed as they rolled to a 40-0 halftime lead. Starting quarterback, Noah Houk finished 5 for 8 passing for 78 yards and two TDs and Smith finished the game with 95 yards on 16 carries and two scores. The two touchdown passes from Houk were to wide out Jaylon Hibbs who finished with two catches for 21 yards and to tight end Davis Kannapell, who finished the game with one catch and 24 yards. The St. X offense was set up with short field position by the Tiger defense and by mistakes from Central. The numbers are not eye popping, but it does show the offense was able to capitalize on Central mistakes and finish drives with touchdowns. These two aspects will be vital this coming week against the Trinity Shamrocks. The defense stayed consistent and as dominate as they have been all year in allowing only 169 yards to Central. It was total unit effort for the Tigers defense as Jackie Arnold and Trace Amshoff grabbed interceptions, Clark Campbell blocked a punt, and Kyle Oliver recovered a fumble. The Tiger defense has definitely carried the team this year, as the offense continues to find their footing. A total defensive effort will be needed as the high powered Trinity offense is next on the schedule. Next Up Trinity Shamrocks (4-2) Last Week Trinity 31 Cathedral (IN) 19 Previous Meeting October 4, 2013: Trinity 29 St. X 17 THE GAME as arrived!
