Up on the "hill" tonight the Breds defended home court with a 3-0 win over the visiting Boone Co. Rebels. I don't think I have ever mentioned any names in my previous volleyball threads, but tonight I have to mention the play of two ladies for the Breds.

 

Jr. Libero Amanda Ruwe and Fr. Setter Mikah Freppon, played outstanding tonight. Ruwe add countless digs on the night and Freppon was literally all over the court, making countless dives to save balls, some were just plain "sick". Both girls are definitely going to have quite a few floor burns, AKA "battle scars", from tonight's contest. :ylsuper:

 

Boone Co. gave a solid effort and quite a few points for both teams were the result of, close to a minute back and forth volleys. All in all, it was a very entertaining match.

The Thoroughbreds moved back to .500 at 9-9 with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-14) home win Wednesday.

Setter Mikah Freppon had 24 assists. Rachel McDonald had 12 kills and five aces with Amanda Ruwe contributing 18 digs. Jamie Lohr and Keyaira Lankheit had five kills each.

The Thoroughbreds travel to Covington Holmes on Thursday. Game time is 6:30 p.m.

To add to that, Lankheit and McDonald played very well also. Lankheit had a number of big blocks, IMO, were very key during a couple of Boone attempted rallies. McDonald seemed to do a number of little things that also was key to the victory. It seemed to me that she was setting most of the offenses, had some great passing, along with stepping up when the setter is out made this a complete team effort.

 

It seems things may be coming together for the Lady Breds for a nice end of the year run.

That they did for sure, and by my not mentioning them did I want to take away from their play. I just was amazed with Ruwe and Freppon and how many times they were digging and diving. Although I should mention, Mikah Freppon is diving all over the place in every game.
