1. Estill County 48, Magoffin County 6

The Hornets made the trip to Irvine to battle the Engineers looking to repeat their 44-21 victory from 2013 but that wouldn’t be the case on this night as the Engineers would roll past the Hornets.

Estill County would score three times in the first quarter, 52 yard pass from Trevor Jones to Deron Miller, made it 7-0 Engineers. Chipper Hitchcock would add to that on a 32 yard touchdown run, making it 14-0 Engineers before Magoffin County would score. Dalton Keeton would get Magoffin on the scoreboard with a 31 yard touchdown run, making it 14-6 but that’s as close as the Hornets would get as the Engineers would put the foot down on the gas pedal.

Estill County would have a 71 yard touchdown run called back due to a penalty.

Magoffin County: 6-0-0-0 – 6

Estill County: (20)-(14)-7-7 – 48

Magoffin County falls to 2-2 and will be off this week but will host Knott County Central on September 26th.

Estill County improves to 3-1 and will host Bath County Friday night.

2. Hazard 53, Somerset 19

Hazard made the trip down to the Briar Patch to take on the Somerset Briar Jumpers, looking to repeat their 32-28 victory from 2013. The Bulldogs would repeat their victory but it wouldn’t be as close as the game played in 2013 as Hazard would roll to a 53-19 win over the Jumpers.

Running back Brandon Jones and quarterback Tanner Morgan would lead the Bulldogs. Brandon Jones carried the ball 11 times for 158 yards and two touchdowns. Tanner Morgan would complete 14/26 passing for 226 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Brycen McWilliams would carry the ball 10 times for 93 yards and 0 touchdowns. Castle Hatcher would complete 12/21 passing for 131 yards and 1 touchdown.
