Johnson Central 46, Fairland OH 0

Johnson Central got things started first on the very first play from scrimmage on a 54 yard touchdown run. After that, it would be all Johnson Central as the Eagles would soar to a 46-0 win over Fairland OH.

The Eagles would finish the game 5-5 with 100 yards passing and 2 touchdowns. Johnson Central would do what they do best and go with the ground attack and their really wasn’t anything Fairland could do to stop them.

Johnson Central (1-0) will host Mastery Charter School North, PA Friday, September 5th.

Fairland OH (0-1) will travel to Meigs OH.

Johnson Central vs. Mastery Charter North PA Game Preview:

Mastery Charter North PA makes the long haul down to Paintsville KY to face off against Jim Matney and his Johnson Central Golden Eagles.

Both teams are 1-0. Mastery Charter North picked up a 21-13 win over William Tennet. Johnson Central picked up a 46-0 win over Fairland OH.

Lexington Christian 27, Estill County 13

Mike Jones and his Estill County Engineers made the trip to Lexington to take on the Eagles of Lexington Christian Academy.

Estill County would win the coin toss and elect to receive. It wouldn’t take the Engineers long to score, as senior quarterback Trevor Jones and senior wide receiver Taylor Tate would connect on a 53 yard touchdown pass. The extra point kick was a bad snap, making it 6-0 Engineers. LCA would come back and score to tie the game up on a 14 yard touchdown run by Nick Whitman, LCA’s extra point attempt would be good and the Eagles would go up 7-6. Estill County would come back and march the ball down the field but it would be for nothing as the Engineers would fumble the ball right on the goal line and would be recovered by the Eagles.

The score would stand 7-6 going to the second quarter. Nick Whitman would put LCA up 13-6, this time from 4 yards out. LCA’s extra point kick would be good and the score would be 14-6 LCA. The Engineers had a long run down to the LCA 5 yard line right before halftime, called back due to a penalty.

The score would stay the same going to the 4th quarter (both teams were scoreless in the 3rd). LCA would score twice before Estill County could score late, making it 27-13.

These two teams will get to know each other a lot better over the next two years as both teams are scheduled to face each other in the next realignment.

Estill County (1-1) will travel to McKee to take on Jackson County next Friday.

Lexington Christian Academy (1-1) will host Green County next Friday.

Estill County at Jackson County Game Preview

The Engineers will travel to McKee to take on former Engineer Russ Shearer and his Jackson County Generals. Estill County ended their 14 game losing streak as they defeated Jackson County 36-0 last season in Irvine.

Since coming over to Jackson County, coach Shearer has built the Jackson County program up.

Not only will LCA and Estill get to know each other better in the next realignment but Estill County and Jackson County will too as both are scheduled to keep facing each other.

Pikeville 49, Hazard 36 (Pike County Bowl)

A rematch from last year’s Pike County Bowl where Pikeville defeated Hazard in a high scoring contest, 62-50. Hazard would be looking to get revenge on the Panthers but that wouldn’t be the case on this night as Pikeville would pick up the 49-36 victory over the Bulldogs.

Hazard would lead the Panthers 18-14 going into the locker room. Pikeville’s two touchdowns came by Daric Pugh. Hazard’s touchdowns came on a fumble recovery and a 31 yard touchdown pass from Tanner Morgan to Jason Johnson. Brandon Jones would put Hazard up 18-14 on a 2 yard touchdown run. Lots a 2 point conversions in this game.

Brandon Jones would get Hazard on the scoreboard first in the third quarter on a 46 yard touchdown run, conversion would fail and Hazard would be up 24-14. On the ensuing kickoff, Caleb Estep would return the kickoff to the Hazard 23 that would put the Panthers deep in Hazard territory and a few moments later, Daric Pugh would have his 3rd touchdown on the night and the extra point attempt would be good and Pikeville would climb back to within 3 of Hazard at 24-21. Hazard would get a first down but would then be forced to punt, after being misplayed by Pikeville, the ball would be downed at the 6 yard line. Daric Pugh would put Pikeville in the lead with his 4th touchdown run on the night, this time from 48 yards out and the extra point attempt would be successful as the Panthers would reclaim the lead at 28-24. Pikeville’s defense would stand tall and as soon as they get the ball back…Daric Pugh takes it to the house from 76 yards out and his 5th touchdown on the night. Panthers would lead 35-24.

Brandon Jones says not so fast Pikeville as he gets Hazard back to within 35-30 with his 4th touchdown on the night but that wouldn’t matter as Pugh would put the Panthers back up 42-30. Daric Pugh would finish the game with 7 touchdowns and 300+ rushing yards as the Panthers would defeat the Bulldogs 49-36.

Pikeville (2-0) will host Paintsville next Friday.

Hazard (0-1) will travel to Whitesburg to take on the Letcher County Central Cougars.
