Ryle Vs Conner 7 on 7

Featured Replies

Is it at Ryle?

Yes.

I stopped in and watched a good portion of the 7 on 7

What stood out to me was a WR for Ryle, Grant was his first name but did not catch his last name. He couldn't be covered on any route he ran downfield. He finished with 3 TD catches including the last one of the day. He did have a couple drops to start off the day but ended strong with 3 nice TD Catches. Uses his hands well in the air and catches the ball with his hands at the highest point instead of letting the ball come to the body where a lot of drops occur.

Colin England playing TE looked really good also. He is the perfect size for TE and has the hands to be very succesful playing that position this year. I hope they leave him there. If they play England at TE this season he will no doubt be one of the, if not the best TE in the area.

QB play for both Conner and Ryle looked very shaky at times. Conner did have some players make some nice catches, but both teams struggled at times at the QB position. Ryle's QB missed some wide open receivers more times than I think the coaches are happy about. Conners QB just doesn't have the zip on his passes they are used to with Drew behind center and it showed on some int's that were thrown.

I didn't keep score so I can't really say who won if they did keep score, but both teams looked fairly even in my opinion.

Did get to spend the 7 on 7 talking to a couple Ryle dads and had a great time. Wish them the best of luck this season, should be interesting to see what direction Ryle takes this year with the new coach and all.

I wish I known you were there.

Ryle dropped too many - without question.

I thought Ryle's 1st QB was solid and can be successful.

To be fair to Conner's QBs we simply cannot use Drew as the measuring stick.

I thought Martin was OK. Doesn't throw a pretty ball but did have some success - just inconsistent. Padgett had a bad pick-6 but it was the right decision. Threw a really nice zip pass on the seam route for a TD. Neither Conner QB has a strong arm. They will have to be very accurate.

Heck , the best arm I saw for Conner was Ebarb throwing on the sideline.

The Conner frosh QB has some nice size and a nice arm.

Enjoyable morning.

...and England will have a huge year.

I looked for you, but I was sitting on the end of the stands as you walk into the stadium on Ryle side. Didn't go too far in my old age lol. Couldn't miss me, I was in a Purple shirt....real men can wear purple lol

Conner's last or 2nd to last TD pass in the corner of the end zone, do you know who the kid was who caught that? It was a great catch and he came down to toe tap both feet in the endzone before going out of bounds, was a great catch.

England I agree, he should have a huge year.

The first Qb was Rytlewski. the others played with the twos and threes. Grant Arnwine is the big tall receiver who caught the 3 TD's. He's definitely a threat down-field. I thought the One's looked ok for their first time out. We definitely missed to many open guys and a lot of overthrows. The twos, and threes dropped off some. Hellbird I think you may in fact have been right in that England may makes a fine TE. You said that some months ago. But I was also told he'd split time at RB along with TE and slot because of his strength, speed. and athleticism. They want to move him around so you have to find and account for him, creating mismatches and opens for other guys. I guess they want to get him more touches, so that's why the RB role. not bad for our first test in the new system. It will only get better from here. Off to UK's & on & tournament this weekend.

Tanner Nyers. He will be a junior and is one to watch the next couple of years for the Cougars

How did the freshman teams do?

I watched a bit of it. All you had to do in the frosh 7s was throw a deep ball and it was wide open.

With that said I thought the Conner QB showed some serious potential. Really good size. Nice arm strength for a frosh. Throws a nice ball.

Our frosh defense has a long way to go. Conner had guys all alone and all day. I would say Conner got the best of the Raiders on that day.
