The Engineers returned to the KHSAA playoffs a year ago. The Engineers finished the 2013 season at 5-6 with 3 of those wins coming against district opponents; 35-20 win at Bath County, 43-29 win at Powell County and a come from behind thrilling 35-32 win at Western Hills.The Engineers would bow out to Russell in the first round of theclass 3A state tournament 49-21.

 

 

The Engineers will be lead by senior quarterback, Trevor Jones, who is arguably the best quarterback in the state that very few people have heard of. Trevor who holds an offer from Morehead State, was the top performer in the Upike Combine back in May. Jones passed for 1,351yards on 100/201 completions averaging 123 per game. Trevor also donedamage with his legs, rushing for 1,180 yards on 148 attempts,averaging 108 rush yards per game. Along with Jones, Estill alsoreturns senior WR Logan Edmonson who rushed for 116 yards on 28attempts and caught 11 passes for 124 yards. Estill returns their top WR Chipper Hitchcock who caught 16 passes for 240 yards (Jones favorite WR). Among those, Dylan Spive (24 rush attempts for 95yards), Deron Miller (caught 12 passes, 195 yards), Kordel Day(rushed for 47 yards on 8 attempts, caught 5 passes for 49 yards).Estill will miss Kris Dennis (caught 8 passes for 187 yards), Jon Collins (rushed for 380 yards on 80 attempts, Jon now resides in Tennessee) and the big bodies on the line, Wade French, Steven Sexton, Jesse Evans.

 

 

EstillCounty, as most of a lot of teams, play the same exact schedule aslast year. Estill will open the season on the road in the first three games. Estill County will travel to Morgan County on August 22. The Cougars lost most of their firepower last season. On August 29 Estill County will then make the trip to Lexington to take on the Eagles of LCA and new head coach, Ethan Atchley. LCA lost some of their firepower but return some. Dima Ballard who was one of the two main LCA quarterback's last season will be back. Altogether LCA lost 13 seniors from last season. Estill County will go to Jackson County totake on former Engineer, Russ Shearer and his Jackson County Generals on September 5. Estill defeated Jackson County 36-0 last season in Irvine. Estill County will return home for three games starting on September 12 when Magoffin County makes the trip to Irvine. Magoffin County derailed the Engineers 44-21 last season. The Hornets losemost of their offensive firepower from last season but do returnstarting quarterback Ryan Jenkins. Estill County will then begin district play on September 19 hosting Bath County. Estill County defeated Bath County 35-20 last season. Bath County loses most of their firepower but the Wildcats do return Taborn Kissick who was one of their top wide receivers last season. On September 26 the Engineers will welcome in longtime rival, Powell County. EstillCounty defeated Powell County 43-29 last season. Powell County took a hit at graduation last year losing 11 but do return two very good running backs in Hank Tindall and Chance Snowden. Estill County will travel to Paris to take on Bourbon County on October 3. Bourbon County defeated Estill County 43-14 last season and lose most of their offensive firepower including starting quarterback Dalton Pope. Estill County will then return home and host Western Hills on October10. Estill County defeated Western Hill 35-32 last year in Frankfort. Western Hills returns nearly everyone from that team. After their byeweek (October 17) Estill County will hit the road again, this time traveling to Lancaster to take on Garrard County and new head coach, Jerry Perry on October 24. Garrard County loses their top tworunning backs but return starting quarterback Slade Crutchfield and their top receivers. Estill County will end the 2014 season at home on senior night on October 31 against McCreary Central. Estill Count ydefeated McCreary Central 49-12 last season. The Raiders lose 9 from last season.
