Scott Co/McCracken Championship Game

Featured Replies

Checking out the video of the controversial play in the bottom of the 2nd inning when McCracken's left fielder looked to have caught a fly just above the dirt then threw to 3rd. The 2nd base ump said it was no catch, so after much discussion it was determined the runner from 2nd to 3rd was forced out and the runner on 3rd scored. Looking at the KHSAA photo gallery of the play it looks as though the ball was in her glove. If she dropped it, she picked it back up with her glove because she took the ball from her glove to throw to 3rd. So instead of having 2 outs with runners at 1st and 2nd, there was 1 out and a run in.

Certainly another questionable call by the umps. Not saying this would have changed the outcome of the game because Scott Co was playing good ball and had the last at bat. I'm technically challenged and not smart enough to paste the pics here and the link to the video.

Really didn't explain that well, Scott Co had bases loaded with no outs when the play happened. Had the play to left been called a catch, the batter would have been out and so would the runner on third who had broke to the plate. So 2 outs with runners at first and second. If you get a chance take a look and I welcome your feedback. I'm complaining about the umpiring at the tournament not the outcome of the game. The girls on both teams played their hearts out

Where can we find the video? Youtube?

KHSAA Official web site. Click on Fast Pitch Softball then scroll down to and click on 2014 Worth/KHSAA State Softball Tournament Info and results. In the upper right there are 9 squares. to top right one is the video of games 27, 29, 30 and championship. The play was about at the 30 min mark. For the pictures, the box in the bottom left is for event photos that can be purchased. Click on that and softball its the first selection. The pics for the championship game are at the bottom and the 3 pics I'm talking about are the first 3 in screen 6. Click on pic 43 to enlarge.

IMO the videos looks like she trapped the ball, but the pictures looked like she caught the ball. Tough call for the umpire, but in his defense right or wrong, he immediately signaled no catch with the safe sign.

Look for McCracken to be right back in it next year, with only having 2 SRs and mostly being sophs.

True, but the 3rd base ump signaled an out. Thanks for taking the time to look.

The reaction by her makes me think she trapped it.

Go to the 31:17 mark to see the play.

The main issue is the officials killed the play when they shouldn't have. MC could have still gotten outs. Not sure why the calling official killed the play to go explain it to the 3rd base umpire.

Well, he actually did have an out on the force from the runner at 2nd base. Didn't look like he knew that, but he did have an out at 3rd base.
