Local rivals Brossart and Campbell County will square off in a Monday match at 5pm at St. Mary Field in Alexandria, that might, or might not, decide the district seeding for the upcoming 37th District Tournament.

 

Scott has defeated Campbell County and Brossart had defeated Scott. A win by the Mustangs would earn them the 37th District Top-Seed outright, but a victory by the Camels, throws the seeding race into a three-way tie to be determined by a coin flip.

After watching Campbell County at Henry Clay on Saturday they will have to up their game if they are hoping to get anywhere near a top seed for their district. I know the weather conditions were not great but none of their three errors could be blamed on the conditions, glass backs maybe, but not the conditions.

 

Granted this was just one game and they may well be better than that game indicated but it was pretty weak fielding for this time of year.

Our Mustangs are not bringing superior momentum into the game themselves, having lost three by sizable margains to Boone Co, Clark Co, and Bourbon County, since defeating Scott to set up this district seeding showdown.

 

However, we have not been nearly 100% since the Scott game, and fully expect to be on Monday for the Camels.

I'm pretty sure the tie break in a three way tie isn't a coin flip anymore. It was a couple of years ago and I think they changed the tie break to the team with the fewest runs allowed becomes the first seed. I am pretty sure if Campbell wins 7-0 then they would be the #1 seed.

You could be right.

I was using basketball seeding mentality when I made that statement.

 

If you are right, and I don't doubt that you are, Campbell County would have to win 5-0 to become the top seed, or by a margain of 5, so long as they are do not allow the Mustangs 5 runs.

 

Presently Scott has allowed 15 (SG-2, Cal-1, CCo-3, BB-9)

CCo has allowed 10 (SG-0, Cal-0, Scott-10)

BB has allowed 6 (SG-2, Cal-0, Scott-4)

Mustangs win it 4 to 1 so we will never know for sure. But what a great game played by both teams.
