NewCath freshman pitcher Haley Meyers comes within 1 strike of throwing her 5th No-Hitter of the season. In the bottom of the 7th with two-out and a 1-2 count on Beechwood's Casey Grant, Grant shoots a "flare" the just tips off shortstop, Kristen Schreiber's glove for the only Tigers hit, the next batter goes down swing as Meyers collects her 14th strikeout for the game. AllenR was at the game taking pictures and should have the photographic evidence. Two other Beechwood players reach on walks in the game. Meyers K's by inning, 1,2,3,2,0,3,3.

 

The Breds could have ended this one in 5, but missed out on some "golden opportunities". They had bases loaded in the 2nd and one-out...and nothing, 2nd & 3rd, one-out in the 3rd after one run had scored and....nothing, and likewise in the 4th.

 

Breds score on RBI doubles by Kristen Schreiber, Loren Zimmerman, and Molly Mertle with a two-run single. Casey Kohls and Morgan Martini also hit doubles for the Breds. Errors "domed" the Tigers as they committed 6 for the game. Tip off the cap to Beechwood 3rd baseman, Claudia Carr, with some very nice defensive assists in this one. :thumb:
