Isn't it about time NKU invest into some lights at their baseball field? The Cooper - NewCath game got called in the 5th inning due to darkness. That's pretty sad. JMO. Thoughts?

Are they not getting them with the new addition and updated to the Health Sciences building right there by the field?

I'm sure it takes a little time. Not sure they are able to do all upgrades at once.

Was a bummer the game was called. Who knows what would have happened. Anyway, an NKU Rep said that they are working to have them within the next year or two. Made a comment that they are required to have them since they moved into Division 1.

Don't hold your breadth Geagles for lights at NKU any time soon. I agree it would be great for NKU and local high schools to play under the lights. State budget constraints and lack of donors guide the decision process. You might have better success starting a fund raising campaign for light installation at your teams home field, if you don't already have them.

It was a joke that their are no lights at NKU and it could have very easily cost Cooper the game. It was bad enough getting their game started 30-40 mins late in the first place but when you start late at a field with no lights then you are just wasting your time.

 

Hate playing at NKU in the first place. The stands are a joke and just a bad baseball facility.

I'm blown away that Division 1 programs do not have lights.

Strong words….you might be doing it wrong HB. During NKU games my son and I have been able to pull our vehicle into left field parking lot beyond the fence. Sit a couple captains chairs out in the grass. Enjoy beverages/food of choice, and listen to the game on radio as well. Not a bad free ticket and vantage point to watch a young div I baseball school.

 

Enjoyed watching a top 25 Mercer put on a hit display last season against the Norse. Something to consider next time you're held against your will at Northerns facility. :thumb:

I agree, HB it's not as dramatic as your making it seem playing at NKU. I don't know how you can fault NKU facilities for costing your team a game when the game started 30 mins late? If you were at any baseball field in NKY and circumstances were the same, game would have been called also.

I don't like the set up there at all. The concrete stands behind home plate and all just doesn't make it a great place to watch a game IMO. As far as pulling into the lot in left field, the lot was closed and we had to catch a shuttle from the BOKA. The problem with calling the game due to darkness is one thing if they would of started on time, but the fact they had a game running late before the start of their game made it dark by the 4th inning. I don't know if Cooper would f wn or not, it doesn't matter. The fact that you could only get 3 1/2 innings in before it started getting dark and unsafe is what I was most dissapointed about. Maybe I am being a bit harsh, but I don't understand scheduling 2 games in evening anywhere where there are not any lights. Maybe it's just me, but it makes no sense to me.

We can all share the frustration of not being able to see "our" team potentially win on the account of darkness. Don't let the closed parking lot deter you. Stop in at Skyline and have a meal/beverage and walk down to the grass with your captain chairs. :thumb:
