Jack of all Trades
The Birds take a 1-0 lead in the first only to give up 3 in the top of 2nd to trail 3-1. They get those 2 back in the 2nd on a key 2 out hit by Austin Beal. Turn right around and give up 2 more in the top of 3 to trail 5-3. Dougherty hits a shot to deep right center for a triple and scores on a sac fly from Casebolt to make score 5-4 after 3. Conner plates 2 more in the 4th to go up 7-4. Birds get one back in the bottom of the inning on another key two out hit from Cain. The score remained at 7-5 until the Birds were able to plate 2in their half of the 7th to tie the game. Another big 2 out hit by Casebolt. Neither team mustered much in the 8th or the 9th until there were two outs. Lindeman walked and Miller reached on an error by the 2nd baseman to put runners at 2nd and 3rd. Beal was then intentionally walked to load bases and Cain plates the game winner as a result of an error on the shortstop. Good to see the Birds battle their way back time after time in this game. Pitchers were Doty, Ling and Miller-Cox. Hitting leaders were Beal who was 3-5; Cain 2-6; Casebolt 3-4 with a sac fly. Next up is a game tomorrow at Scott at 4:45. Record now at 2-1-
