I like those picks. Guess we will have to see what happens. If Corbin only beats Whitley by 17 then it will be hard to unseat South as the favorite.

I agree and I'll explain my reasoning behind the picks.

The South/Williamsburg needs no explanation as it has the best team without question in the region against arguably the worst. South will have a cakewalk and this game could be a lot worse than the score I predicted. With all due respect to Williamsburg, South's reserves will just add on to the onslaught making this a 40-50 point drubbing.

Corbin has handled Whitley twice this year with one being a 40 point whipping at Corbin and the other being a decent game for a while. Whitley has been known to surprise Corbin when they least expect it in the past but I just think the crowd will put the hounds over. Corbin should jump out to a big enough lead to rest the starters the final period.

The Corbin vs. South game is where I'm going to get the most grief from some posters but I'll be ready to eat crow if I'm wrong. Honestly, the odds heavily favor me being served a dish of crow but I'll take my chances. Fact is, Corbin does not fear South Laurel like they did in the first game. Corbin and South both played their C game in meeting #2 yet was right in the game until the final 3 minutes when they were jacking up threes. South is clearly the better team but this is district tournament time. If South has a bad game and Corbin has a good game, this will be it. The crowd will definately be one of the best ever for this game. Plus despite how much better a team will be, it is always hard to beat an arch rival 3 times in a row.

I hope that you are right, but I think that South is too physical for the HOunds to handle even if South does not play their "A" game, unless the game is called very tightly both ways.

How many years has it been since Whitley has beaten Corbin? I'm pretty sure that it has been longer than 10 years and that Rich Prewitt was the coach, but I could be wrong. Anyway, this game against Whitley really scares me for several reasons, I know Coach P. has stressed not to overlook the Colonels, but I get the feeling that right now that the players may not be buying into it.

I agree with you that Corbin better buy into it or Whitley can sneak up and beat them. I don't care what past games and what records teams bring to the table. This is March (almost) Madness and anything can happen. This first round is do or die time. You win, you live 2 more games minimum, you lose and it's "let's get ready for Spring Practice".

I may have the schools mixed up but I'm thinking that a few years back, South and Pulaski were looking towards meeting up in the district or region finals only to find McCreary and Casey County to knock them off. Nobody in their right mind would have predicted such an event. Hopefully Coach P will pass this along to them. I'm sure Steve Wright remembers it and will preach it to South until he is blue in the face.

Like 4CHS said, Corbin isn't strong enough inside to match up with South and Proffitt is too solid at the point to make enough mistakes for an upset.

Corbin also didn't handle the ball that well Friday (19 turnovers) when I saw them against Harlan.

Corbin's best bet is to get in the regional and hope someone else can knock off South Laurel
