PurplePride92 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Tuesday February 25th-Mercer County Senior High School-6:00pm (1) East Jessamine vs. (4)Burgin East Jessamine is 18-10 and the 1 seed in the 46th District Tournament. They are 5-1 against district opponents and coached by Chris O'Bryan. Led by Ronnie Carson and his 25.9 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, he and Hayden Smith's 18.6 points lead a potent East Jessamine offense into the tournament. They have played Burgin twice this season defeating them both times by the score of 90-64 and 75-45. East has won their last 7 games as they head into the tournament. Burgin is 3-27 and the 4 seed in the 46th District Tournament. They are 0-6 against district opponents and their results against East Jessamine are noted above. They are coached by Brian Kirk and have faced a very difficult season this year. A special shout out to John Price, Andy Baker, Jake Osbourn, Cooper Shearer, Chase Hale, Zach Curtsinger, Tyler Freeman, Jacob Burdine and Drew Raisor for sticking with the team through incredibly tough times. They should all be given credit for remaining with the team when they all could have given up on the team and called it quits. They played every game as hard as they could and continued to work hard to improve everyday. Tip of the cap to the Burgin Bulldogs and everyone associated with the program. Winner of this game advances to the Championship game on Friday night. Tuesday February 25th-Mercer County Senior High School-7:45pm (2) Mercer County vs. (3)West Jessamine Mercer County is 11-11 and is the 2 seed in the 46th District Tournament. They are 4-2 against district opponents and coached by Brian Britt. Led by Will Hager's 17.8 points and 7.2 rebounds along with Russell Sims' 15.9 points and 6.1 rebounds a game these two are a formidable duo who will play a huge role in Mercer County's postseason success. Mercer County split the season series with West Jessamine winning by the score of 70-66 and losing by the score of 78-66. Mercer County has won 2 of their last 5 games heading into the tournament. Mercer County is hoping that being the host of the tournament will play as a huge home court advantage for them. West Jessamine is 17-10 and is the 3 seed in the 46th District Tournament. They are 3-3 against district opponents and are coached by Damon Kelley. West Jessamine is also led by KABC Player of the Year, Daulton Peters and his 22 points and 8.5 rebounds a game. He also gets plenty of help from teammate Will Henderson and his 12.3 points a game. As noted above West Jessamine split the season series with Mercer County and look to make a nice run in the postseason. Winner of this game advances to the Championship game on Friday night.
