Outside of the Conner afternoon game a few weeks back, the most complete game the Birds have played on both ends of the floor.

 

Shout-out to Beechwood assistant coach MITCH SHOVER.

A few years ago Mitch coached Brendan Buten on Crons/Shining Stars team. He did a great job with all the boys/families and after the season continued working with BB in private workouts out at NKU on his shooting. He knew undersized BB would require a much quicker release AND have to move his release point from in front of him to up over his shoulder. Mission accomplished Mitch. YOU are what is RIGHT with AAU opportunities for these young athletes. You're a great teacher indeed & an even better person and mentor.

Spot on. Mitch is a great kid. Lol I say kid. My son and him grew up together. They are early 20's now. He is perfect to be in the teaching basketball position. He lives for basketball. Great attitude also.

The Highlands Bluebirds basketball team finished the regular season with some momentum.

The Blue birds (8-13) handled the host 11-15 Beechwood Tigers, 67-48 on Friday. Highlands has won two in a row and went 8-7 after an 0-6 start.

The Bluebirds saw five players reach double-figures in a balanced effort. Brendan Buten led the way with 19 points and Drew Houliston followed with 14. Brandon Hergott and Mitchell Cain scored 11 each with Parker Harris scoring 10.

Highlands earned the third seed in the 36th District Tournament at Newport Central Catholic on Wednesday. The Bluebirds face the Newport Wildcats (15-10) for the right to advance to the 9th Region Tournament at 7:45 p.m.
