[h=1]Clark rally falls short at East Jessamine[/h]

The George Rogers Clark High School boys basketball team staged a late rally at East Jessamine Tuesday night but came up short in an 87-82 loss to the Jaguars Tuesday night in Nicholasville.

East Jessamine (17-10) won its sixth straight game, while the Cardinals (8-17) suffered their sixth consecutive setback with one game remaining in the regular season.

Clark plays at Covington Holmes Thursday before opening the 40th District Tournament against Paris Tuesday at the MCHS Arena in Mount Sterling.

Clark trailed 41-26 at halftime and fell behind by 20 in the third quarter before rallying to make it interesting down the stretch.

The Cards outscored the Jaguars 33-22 in the final eight minutes.

Clark senior guard Riley Caudill sparked Clark’s fourth-quarter comeback with 13 points. Caudill, who tallied one point in the previous three quarters, drained a pair of 3s in the final eight minutes.

Caudill finished with 14 points as four Cardinals finished in double figures.

Damion King paced Clark with a game-high 29 points. King made three of Clark’s five treys and scored 16 points in the second half. King made 10 of 10 free throws. As a team, Clark made 21 charity tosses on 27 attempts. Khamarkis Blanton followed King with 20 points, with 15 of those coming in the second half. Luke Sharrock chipped in with 11 points.

Ronnie Carson led East Jessamine with 25 points and Camryn Jones followed with 21.
