Shout out to: Russell Sims from Mercer County for surpssing the 1,000 point barrier. Hagen Tyler of Boyle County for surpassing the 1,000 point barrier. Ronnie Carson of East Jessamine for being about one game away from becoming the all time scoring leader at East Jessamine. I believe he is 17 points away. Jacob Conway of Lincoln County for continuing to prove that he is one of the more capable scorers in the region. Peyton Gover of Pulaski County for making a name for himself as a freshman. Trey Blevins for coming up big for Wayne County against Knott County Central.
Rez Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Is West Jess really only the 8th best team in the region? I guess this is why seeing one game doesn't always give you a fair picture of a team. I thought West looked great against Montgomery Co, and would only be a little bit behind Lincoln Co. On the other hand, Boyle Co looked awful in the one game I saw them play against Lawrence Co. I would also throw in that Trey Blevins played very well against Montgomery Co in the loss. I really enjoyed watching him, and Wayne Co as a whole. I think they are a team that the Rupp crowd could really get behind if they make it. They don't look very imposing, but they play hard, are sound fundamentally, and play a very fun brand of basketball to watch.

West Jessamine has been in a slide for the past few weeks and that is why they are 8th. Part of it is how they have lost as well. They are 2-6 since the Montgomery County game. I believe they only have one win against all of the teams ranked above them. I also feel like the 12th Region is an underrated region.
SHS Future Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I know you don't get a lot of info from the southern part of the 12th region, but I thought I would fill you in on some from Somerset. Somerset went 2-2 with wins over Frankfort and McCreary Co. For what ever reason the KHSAA site doesn't have it updated so it looked like they were 0-2. They lost a heartbreaker to Pulaski in overtime and Wayne handled them fairly easily. Ryan Dishman is having a heck of a year for the Jumpers. He has moved to 13th all time in SHS scoring with 533 points so far this year (1193 for his career). At one point this season Carson, Woods, Tyler, Peters, and Dishman were all in the top 15 scorers in the state (5 in the 12th is pretty good). Ryan Dishman and Hagan Tyler are 2 of the top free throw shooters in the state also.
PurplePride92 Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 @thejj_sports: In scoring 25 points in tonight's win vs. GRC, Carson moved to 1st all-time in East bball history with 1,625, passing Butch Jointer's 1,617.
