Newport Central Catholic 79 Ludlow 39 9th Region All "A"

Drew McDonald scores his 1000th point tonight. :dancingpa

Neither team scored for the 1st two minutes, but Ben Weyer gets the Breds on the board with a trey from the corner and it was off to the races from there for the Breds. Although I should say Weyer and Tanner Moeves, has these two score the 1st 17 points for the Breds, Moeves 10 & Weyer 7. McDonald took over in the 2nd & 3rd quarters scoring 9 & 8 respectively, and the starting 5 were done 4 minutes in.

I know this may sound odd, but IMO, the defense was a little lacking tonight. Ludlow was getting too many shoots outside of the perimeter and connected on 7 or 8 3's, on more than one occasion you could see Coach Dawn was not a happy camper.

Ben Weyer hitting jumpers does not bode well for the 9th over the next couple of years.

It is worth mentioning a couple stellar plays from last night (I apologize for not getting on here last night).

1. Zach Pangallo, who was beyond the 3 pt. line, and in the act of dribbling, firing a "missile" on one bounce down the middle on the lane to the waiting arms of Ben Weyer for the easy deuce.

2. It's a drill you learned in grade school.....going coast to coast passing the ball back and forth to a teammate. Tanner Moeves and Ben Weyer pulled this off to perfection on a "two on one" fastbreak.

3. Grant Moeves with a beautiful no look pass "in traffic", for the easy bucket (sorry I forgot who the recipient of the pass was). :(

4. So. "sharpshooter" John Ludwig comes right off the bench and less than 10 seconds later fires from way downtown (nothin' but net) for the triple, kid has an amazing stroke.
