Hargrave Military Academy 99 Rise Academy 84

Featured Replies

Final from Newport Catholic.

Although the weather was not the best, a very respectable crowd showed up for something you will not see in NKY basketball, much less the state. Hargrave Military Academy spots Rise a 1st half (played two 20 minute halves) lead of 8, but HMA asserted itself on the 6-man roster of the Rise team and held a 46-40 halftime advantage. The 2nd half Rise made a nice run, but some suspect shots keep them from drawing any closer than 6 and HMA went on for the 15 point victory.

Justin Jordan.....is NOT MJ.

Donte Grantham (Clemson signee) was all that and a bag of chips.

Rashard Kelly (Signed LOI with Wichita State) was very impressive as well.

Trey Grundy (Lexington Henry Clay grad) played a very solid game.

Stinkyboy thinks the NewCath lay-up drill is a dunkfest, you should have seen this one.......WOW!!!

The speed of these teams was nothing you will see around here, just stupid. Both teams in a full-court press and MTM, in your face, the whole game.

The speed in which they passed the ball on the perimeter was impressive, although it did get a little sloppy on occasion.

Multiple alley-oops, "flushes" on shots off the rim, and drive to the basket jamms.

Hargrave dresses 16 players, and get a load of these numbers: 6-7, 6-7, 6-8, 6-8, 6-8, 6-11 & 7-2. BTW the 6-11 & 7-2 guys, they finally got in the game with 55 seconds left.

Overall, it was well worth making the trip up to the "hill" to watch this, considering the conditions outside.

Tip of the hat to Coach Ron Dawn and Jeff Schulkens for making sure the "hill" was pretty much clean of snow where it needed to be, great job guys. :thumb:

You can always count on the Pangallo's to bring at least 2 or 3 dozen.

The pull out bleachers were maybe 60% filled, the other side much more "spacious" maybe 20%.

Strictly guesses on my part. I think considering the weather it was a very nice crowd.

It was a pretty good game to attend. Rise just couldn't compete with only having 6 players. That's a lot to expect from a team to stick with one that has 13+ players, and with (Hargrave's) size. That being said, Rise stayed in the game due to their ability to break Hargrave's press. At times I was definitely thinking Hargrave should stop pressing, but they continued to. Sometimes it rewarded them, sometimes it burned them. Overall it was a great game (Sorry for the last response.)
