2014 Louisville Invitational Tournament

Featured Replies

A special addendum here. Big congratulations due to Louisville Holy Cross.

They defeated Moore in a play-in game last week and, by virtue of their win, qualified for the school's first LIT.

Congratulations and good luck to the Cougars.

Holy Cross has a couple nice wins this year over Taylor Co and South Oldham. How do you think they will fare against Western?

Getslow, Will the Quarterfinals and Semifinals take place in the order in which your predictions are listed?

Getslow ~ are you working from a bracket or do you or anyone know where the LIT bracket can be found? I've googled everything. Thanks for any help.

I don't know. They're simply listed in order from the top part of the bracket down. Now, if it follows that the teams playing the early games on Tuesday and Wednesday will continue to be the early games (as it should), then that will hold. Bullitt East's Round of 16 game will be the first of the day on Wednesday, so you'd think the patter will hold.

I'll get back to you when I know for sure.

I can't find one out there, but the Courier-Journal printed one in the paper today. I left my copy at home this morning though. May be stopping by the house at lunch; if I do, I'll scan the bracket and post it. Otherwise I'll get it in later tonight after the games have started.

I haven't seen either Western or Holy Cross this year and unfortunately, due to the 3:30 start time and the mountain of files on my desk, it doesn't look like I'm going to today.

Western doesn't really have a signature win on the schedule but they acquitted themselves nicely against both Doss back in December and a game last week with Iroqouis, two of the best teams in the Sixth. If I had to pick, I'd say Western will control the game most of the way, but the truth is that I just don't know a lot about either of them.

Is this what you mean? I was hoping for visual brackets. That CJ article you refer to may be the link at bottom. There isn't any LIT site and it seems not much effort at promotion this year. Or I may simply not be able to find stuff anymore. Lackadaisical promotion seems to be the rule these days, eg, the Kingdom of the Sun tourney in Ocala during the holidays. KoB was better but the scores on its brackets disappeared after 1st round.

^ No. I couldn't find it on the website, but the C-J's print edition had an actual diagrammed bracket this morning.

I'll get it in here sometime today.

Well, it's a tournament run by the Athletics board at JCPS. Some years I'm amazed it happens at all...

I hope everyone can read that; I use a pretty old scanner for the day-to-day stuff at my office. The quarterfinals go from the top down. Bullitt East's pod at 4 pm, St. Xavier's at 5:50, Trinity's at 7, Ballard's at 8:30.

Thanks, buddy. Use a "pretty old scanner," huh? Well, from your pic, you look like a pretty old scanner yourself. Man and machine are well matched.

:lol2:

I wouldn't put too much stock into records at this point. A few teams on this list haven't really played much competition. Ballard, has played the toughest schedule of course, but I'm not buying into Waggener. They very talented, but still a year away. I'll take Trinity to win it all. Ballard can outscore most teams, but they can't guard anyone. Trinity guards everyone. Trinity lost to Ballard by 11 at the KOB, without Spaulding.

Waggener is all freshman and sophomores or the whole louisville legends AAU team. .

Last nights butlers pressure did not effect KCD for the most part.

Westerns big man was to much for Holy Cross. Western new coach has done a really good job. They do not turn it over as much as old western teams do.

I have no clue what is up with Male. Jtown is an ok team but not great at all.

The Town shot it really well last nite, and played stifling defense
