George Rogers Clark 71 Madison Southern 53

First, prayers and angels to #35 Burns of Madison Southern. With 1:35 to go in game, he went over the back of a GRC player and fell head first on the floor. Huge gash over his eye and most likely a concession. Play was stopped for over 15 minutes. Hopefully someone from Southern can update us on his status.

Burns shot the ball well for Southern, he had to be thier leading scorer. Also good production from #24. Best game I have seen Kamarkis Blanton play ever for GRC. He had 23 points, all of GRC points in the 3rd quarter except 3. He was a man on a mission today. Not sure how many rebounds, but he had to have a double double. One play that stood out is he rebound and had a putback, was the first GRC player back and took the charge at the other end. Damion King is a special player. Playes so hard on both ends. Not sure how many points he had but he had to be the 2nd leading scorer, with several steals. GRC shot the ball much better tonight. They play like this every game they will make some noise come tourney time.

Also forgot to mention that Malachi Israel of GRC did not play tonight and is out indiffidently. He suffered a bad mouth injury this week and had to have surgery. Hope you return soon Malachi.

Blanton's 23 points lead Clark past Madison Southern

Khamarkis Blanton has been in a slump. The George Rogers Clark senior snapped out of it Friday night.

Blanton scored 20 points in the second half as the Cards pulled away from the pesky Eagles. Blanton had six rebounds, including five on the offensive end.

Madison Southern coach Shane Buttry had no answer for Blanton.

“We tried to play behind him, double him, he wore us out,” he said. “We would try to front him and he would skip the ball to the other side of the floor.

Clark guard Damion King gave the Cards a spark with eight points during the spree. King led the Cards with 13 points and made two of his team’s three 3-pointers in the first half.

King followed Blanton with 18 points and Braxton Greene rounded out three Clark players in 13 points.

Stacy Burns led the Eagles with 16 points, with 14 of those coming in the second half. Burns left with 1:35 remaining after hitting the floor while going for a block.
