Danville picks up a good win last night. I was told Mercer had 19 points at one point in the second half. Just a bad shooting night for the Titans.

 

Does anyone know if Cody Woolridge played for Danville?

Cody played limited minutes because of foul trouble. He fouled out early in the 4th quarter. Mercer was also missing a few players, one starter for sure.

Mercer was missing Price and Craig. Danville was missing Grey. Wooldridge still played the lion's share of the game but did sit some in the second half and ended up fouling out. Hager for Mercer also was in foul trouble as he had 3 in the first half. Danville played a very, very deliberate style and Mercer sat back in a zone most of the first 3 quarters and had only 23 points after 3. They didn't shoot well but also didn't have a ton of attempts. They went full court man a couple of minutes into the 4th and cut a 20 point lead to 1 with about 2 minutes left. Too little, too late for the Titans.

Danville is very patient and has some good perimeter shooters. Wooldridge is clearly their go-to guy and is a nice player but he's not all they have. Very balanced team. They've come a long, long way as compared to last year. Box:

Yes, very much so. Only when it became up-tempo did Mercer make their run. Seemed to give them energy they had lacked for the first 3 quarters. I learned two things about Danville - they can shoot the ball both from the field and the line, and they seem to struggle against pressure. I would assume Coach McKinney knows that and that's why his game plan was to be very deliberate on offense.
