The future Wildcats gave the Bruins — Kentucky’s No. 1 team in a preseason poll of coaches — all they wanted. Indianapolis Arsenal Tech’s Trey Lyles had 30 points and 19 rebounds in an 87-84 overtime victory, and Devin Booker of Moss Point (Miss.) scored 40 points in a 92-71 loss to Ballard in the evening.

Ballard fell behind 24-2 after one quarter, then came back to build a seven-point fourth-quarter lead but failed to close it out.But the Bruins bounced back with a 31-point second quarter to get within eight by halftime. They took the lead midway through the fourth quarter, soon after Tech’s Jeremie Tyler was called for offensive goaltending and got a technical foul for hanging on the rim on a breakaway dunk attempt.

Outstanding comeback by Ballard. Thought they made one key mistake late in regulation but it didn't cost them. Came up short in OT
