4A Playoffs: Lexington Catholic at Russell County Predictions

This is the first ever meeting of these two schools. Game will be at Russell County.

 

 

Who wins and why?

Lexington Catholic 35-28.

I think Russell will win by a TD. They had a chance last year against Boyle in a great game. They may have more of a motivation factor on their side and they are playing at home.

An interesting match-up.

 

Russell County has not faced a team with the raw talent of the Knights this season. But the Lakers present some challenges to the Knights and are playing at home with good group of seniors.

 

The Knights have lots of offensive firepower but it has struggled to get out of the gate at times. Most notably in the Boyle game and even against Rockcastle County last Friday. The Lakers leverage the run a lot but when they pass they spread it around to a lot of different receivers. Also, the Lakers present a lot of different looks on offense and at times use variations of the wing-T that the Knights do not see much of.

 

The keys will be: a) can the Knights get their offense going early and not get in a hole and b) can the Lakers hang with the Knights late in the game as they play a number of players both ways. My guess is a close game into the 3rd quarter. The Knights get the upper hand in the later part of the game for a 10 point victory.
