Fox Creek Christian 64 Aldersgate 57

Featured Replies

Fox Creek Christian was able to overcome a sloppy first half of basketball and several missed easy scoring opportunities and beat Aldersgate from NKY 64-57 in a varsity contest last night.

Fox Creek jumped out to an early 15-6 lead in the first quarter, sparked by some very good defense, especially from Freshman pg Daniel Whalen, who got his first varsity start. This forced an early time out by Alderagate. The Praisers then went on a 12-0 run to take the lead after one quarter, 18-15. Fox Creek missed several easy chances at the basket in the first period, that also continued in the 2nd. Both teams played even through the 2nd quarter, and Fox Creek went into half time down, 28-30.

Fox Creek started the 2nd half a little sloppy again, but picked up the pace, forced some turnovers with a full court high pressure defense, and regained the lead. However, they continued to miss good scoring opportunities and gave up 3 or 4 easy baskets that helped keep Aldersgate within striking distance. Some tough play by Senior Blake Long and surprising good defense by Jr. Cody Smith helped carry Fox Creek in the 4th quarter. The Knights were able to build a lead of about 10 points late in the final minutes, and held on for the victory.

Fox Creek was lead in scoring once again by Dakota Sallee with 29. Senior Dillon Ramsey chipped in with 23. Freshman pg Daniel Whalen didn't score a point, but was the player of the game with his tenacious defense and his good ball handling.

Tim Replogle for Aldergate led all scorers with 30. Stormy Edwards chipped in with 10.

Yep. I am still missing my starting Sr. point guard, and probably will be for at least a couple more weeks. Daniel has FAR outplayed the Sr. backup pg...not even close. So I rewarded him with the start last night and the majority of the playing time at the point. In probably 8 minutes of play, I think my backup point guard shot 8 or 9 times, hit one basket. Daniel I think shot once in 20+ minutes on the floor. He gets it, and he does his job as directed. We are a better team right now with him running the point than with anyone else I have available.
