Very nice game ends in OT of a tap in. Highlands 1 NCC 0

Great game to watch. Very physical game with 5 yellow cards handed out, I believe. Not really chippy though but someone else may have a different opinion. Not a whole lot of shots on goal but the ones both teams had were exciting. NCC had a couple of good opportunities but put both shots over the post. Also had an excellent header that was going in the far corner and was cleared right before it crossed the goal line. Highlands had a couple of opportunities as well. Awesome effort on a bicycle kick by Noah Sellers. In the end its tied 0-0. About 2:00 mins into the 1st overtime Highlands pressures the goal and there is a total mess in the goal box and Highlands #14 comes away with a put back, that he almost walked in. Congrats to both teams on an excellent season and good luck to the Birds! Want to give a special shout out to sophomore Noah Sellers for an awesome District and Regional tournament. All District and All Regional team and wasn't even a regular varsity player in the beginning of the season

Nice description kings. It was a very physical match and there were 5 yellows. Some might say that is a lot but I think it you would have seen the fouls that earned them you might understand they were needed. Seemed like a battle of defense to me since the offensive plays of any real quality were few and far between. These teams are going to need some serious offense when they take on Dunbar eventually. That team seems to be firing on all cylinders right now.

I thought it was a very defensive match with very few chances on goal. HHS man marked Tolle all over the field and it seem to slow any offense from NCC. The game was physical but not chippy as a lot of these kids play on the same club teams and even live on the same streets in the neighborhood. I think there were five yellows but the center did seem to pull out some of the yellow cards rather quick, IMO only two were warranted. Congratulations to all for a fine match which could have gone either way in the end.

I don't know, there were two cards in the first half I think. The first was a pretty reckless challenge near midfield from a Highlands player. The second was the one that looked like it could have been really ugly if more contact had been made. NCC player came in with a boot up near the head of a Highlands player. Looked like he missed, which probably is why it was only a yellow. Not saying he was trying to get the player but still that is not the way to play a ball that high. The was one in the second half I wasn't sure about but if I recall it was to 14 on NCC who already had a few fouls in the first half probably persistent infringement. The other two looked like they were either tactical or reckless. Do I think the players were out to hurt each other, no. By that same token though I think they were getting a bit rash and late with challenges at one point. Seemed like the cards did calm the game back down though so I guess they did the job of getting things back under control.

Overall it was a very nice match and it had the feel of a Regional final. Both teams really wanted to win and played very hard soccer. Good luck in the next round, which I believe is at West Jessamine. A grass field and bermuda if memory serves. Could be interesting since that type of grass is usually dormant by now.

......and very hard to hit a golf ball out of if grows into rough......

Congrat to both teams on a great year. Best of luck to HHS representing Region 9 going forward....

Fair enough but persistent infringement seemed a little odd when a couple of the fouls happened in the first half maybe should have been a verbal there with a warning about persistent infringement. If you felt the ref got some value out the cards then that's ok but some times a verbal gets the job done and does not give the impression of the quick trigger. Overall a job well done but I will say the AR missed an offside that created a chance for NCC that would have been unfortunate. WE were rite on the last defender and fans on both sides agreed that it should have been offside and I know its when the balls played.

There were some very close decisions for offside and I don't doubt you may be right. I think the players decided that match and they deserve all the credit. For what it's worth I think the ref did warn 14 after a foul that happened on the South side of the field in the first half. I could be wrong though. The fans were, let's say enthusiastic and I couldn't hear much coming from the field.

Absolutely
