With the season almost over, here is a recap of Week 7 games throughout the mountain area.

- Breathitt County 51, Clay County 40

Breathitt County traveled to Manchester on Friday to take on the Clay County Tigers.

Clay County would get on the board first on a 4 yard run by Sam Carr. Carr would also run in the two point conversion making it 8-0 Tigers. That wouldn’t last long as the Bobcats would answer on a 63 yard touchdown pass from Adam White to Wes Noble. Two point conversion pass failed. Making it 8-6 Tigers. From that point on in the first quarter was all Clay County. Carr would put another TD on the board for Clay on a 8 yard run and again he would run in the two point conversion making it 16-6 Tigers. Clay County’s defense would strike as Arnold Arnett would recover a fumble and return it 40 yards for a touchdown and once again, Carr would run in the two point conversion, making it 24-6 Tigers. Clay County would add another score in the first quarter and it came on a 39 yard run by Carr. This time Ryan Holland would run in the two point conversion, making it 32-6 Tigers after one quarter.

Second quarter would be all Bobcats as Breathitt would put up 19 in the quarter and here’s how it went down.

Jordan Turner had a 6 yard run, two point conversion run failed, making it 32-12 Tigers. Turner again would get in the endzone, this time on a 2 yard run, Michael Hilderbrand would come on and make the extra point kick, making it 32-19 Tigers. Turner would add another touchdown for the Bobcats, this was another 2 yard run. Michael Hilderbrand would miss the extra point kick, making it 32-26 Tigers going into halftime.

Neither team would score in the third as the score would stay the same going into the final fram.

Breathitt County would get a safety to start the fourth as Clay County’s snap would go through the endzone for the two point safety, making it 32-28 Tigers. Breathitt would take the lead on a 2 yard run by none other than Jordan Turner. John Keith Collins would run in the two point conversion and for the first time all night, Breathitt County lead 36-32. That wouldn’t last long as the Tigers would strike as Ryan Holland would give the Tigers the lead on a 2 yard touchdown run, Arnold Arnett would run in the two point conversion as Clay County reclaimed the lead 40-36.

Breathitt would reclaim the lead on a 27 yard touchdown pass from Adam White to Wes Noble, Jordan Turner would run in the two point conversion, making it 44-40 Breathitt. Breathitt would add another score, this time on a 60 yard interception return for a TD by Wes Noble, Michael Hilderbrand would come on and make the extra point kick making it 51-40 Bobcats.

Breathitt County improves to 3-4 and will host Morgan County next Friday.

Clay County falls to 2-6 and will host Russell County next Friday.

- Estill County 35, Western Hills 32

Estill County made the hour and half, 70+ mile drive to Frankfort Friday to take on the Wolverines of Western Hills in a big district game.

Both teams’ defense would stand tall in the first as neither team would score. Estill had a pass intercepted on the 7 yard line. Western Hills was stopped inside the 5 yard line.

Western Hills would strike first as Nick Young would run it in from 17 yards out, Western Hills two point conversion run would fail, making it 6-0 Wolverines. That wouldn’t last long as the Engineers would answer with a touchdown run of their own courtesy of Trevor Jones from 3 yards out. Levi Tipton would miss the extra point kick, tying the game at 6-6. Hills would strike again, this time on a 17 yard touchdown pass from Nick Young to Cody Williams. Nick Young’s extra point kick would fail, making it 12-6 Hills. There would be a long delay after this touchdown as on the kickoff, Estill County’s Greg Stamper was hit hard and was down for 20+ minutes and had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance. That seemed to motivate the Engineers as either the next play or the play after that, Trevor Jones would have a 75 yard touchdown run, Taylor Tate would throw the two point conversion pass to Trevor Jones, making it 14-12 Engineers. Hills would score right before halftime on a 4 yard run by Nick Young. Hills two point conversion pass would fail, making it 18-14 Hills at Halftime.

Hills would strike first in the third quarter on a 46 yard run by Nick Young, Cody Williams would run in the two point conversion, making it 26-14 Hills. Estill, however, would answer, on a 41 yard run by Trevor Jones. Levi Tipton would miss the extra point kick, making it 26-20 Hills. Before the third quarter came to an end, Hills would add another score, this time Cody Williams runs it in from 44 yards out, Hills two point conversion pass would fail, making it 32-20 Hills going to the final frame.

Estill would be the first to strike, as Jon Collins would run it in from 20 yards out on the option, Levi Tipton would finally make the extra point kick, making it 32-27 Hills. Both teams' defense would stand tall as each team would stop each teams’ offense. With right around 2-3 minutes left, Estill would strip the ball from Western Hills and none other than Estill’s Trevor Jones came up with the fumble, Hills defense would stand tall on the first three plays as it brought up 4th & 4 for the Engineers, this play would decide the game, Engineers calls two timeouts, Trevor Jones scrambled around and threw it over the middle to Deron Miller as he goes up over Hills’ Tyree Childers to make the catch in the endzone for the touchdown. Trevor Jones would run in the two point conversion, making it 35-32 Engineers with 1:35 left. Estill kicks it deep and Hills takes over at the 29 yard line. After three plays and an ineligible receiver down field was called on Hills, brought up 4th & 25/27, Nick Young on the scramble has enough for the first down but the ball is ripped and Estill recovers, ending the game with 13 seconds left.

Estill County improves to 4-4, 3-1 district play and will host Garrard County on October 25th

Western Hills falls to 1-6, 0-3 district play and will travel to Garrard County next Friday.
