thsrocks
Male led 6-0 in first quarter, scoring on a 20 yard TD pass. St. Xavier took a 7-6 lead on a second quarter drive led by Chitwood at QB, whose passing was crisp at times. The Xaverians added a field goal just before half for a 10-6 lead. Male answered in the third quarter mixing the pass with the run. Added a 2 point coversion for a 14-10 lead. The Bulldogs moved the ball one more time on a lengthy drive for a 21-10 lead and ended the game taking a knee inside the St. X 20. The Bulldog defensive front held the Tigers running game in check. Breit struggled mightily at QB in the face of a fierce rush. He played 80% of the game at QB for the Tigers. St. Xavier had many chances inside the Male 30 yard line but could not convert. The Male O-line made just enough holes for some key 10-20 yard runs. They also protected their QB on several third down and long conversions through the air. Will Wolford called the offense. I was a little surprised by this action. An old buddy is a coach for Male. He explained they start 7 sophomores on varsity and they would not appear in this game. He did share two kids that rotate in on varsity would play today.
