The Highlands Bluebirds volleyball team celebrated Parents Night with a 3-1 (25-14, 25-11, 23-25, 25-9) victory over the Dixie Heights Lady Colonels on Tuesday.

The players gave flowers to their parents before the game. Highlands improved to 9-18 again playing without junior standout middle blocker Jessica Ginter.

Sophomore Kaylan Frisch led Highlands with seven kills and five blocks with junior setter Kaitlin Hall recording 27 assists and five aces. Senior Abby Schweitzer added three digs.

Highlands travels to Bellevue on Thursday for a 36th District contest. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

Soccer, Boys:

Highlands 3, Conner 1:

The Bluebirds improved to 10-5-1 with a win over the Cougars (4-10-1) on Tuesday.

Highlands outshot Conner, 9-0. Brady Gesenhues, Mitch Gesenhues and Noah Sellers scored the Bluebird goals.

Highlands takes on 14-2 Bishop Brossart at 7 p.m. tonight. The Mustangs won the All “A” state championship in Elizabethtown over the weekend.

NCC 4, Covington Holy Cross 0:

The Thoroughbreds improved to 10-3-1 with a sound victory in Covington on Tuesday.

NewCath outshot Holy Cross, 10-2. Thoroughbred goalkeeper Paul Grosser saved both Indian shots.

Matt Tolle, Jacob Hensley, Ben Tierney and Connor Hanneken scored the goals for NewCath. Tolle leads the Thoroughbreds with 12 goals and his younger sister, freshman Taylor Tolle leads the Lady Breds with 15.

The Thoroughbreds have two games remaining. They travel to Woodford County for an 8 p.m. contest Thursday.
