Why was the clock running at 40-0? IMO, you pass the ball until you have a running clock. Once the clock is running, you let the game take its course. If a kid breaks a long run, he scores. You absolutely can not tell a kid to take a knee or step out of bounds. But it is a coach's duty to manage the game in a running clock scenario by not: passing, blitzing, blocking punts or any other tactic that may give an unnecessary advantage. Until it is a running clock, it is fair game.

It was a running clock in the 2nd quarter. Once the lead is at 36-0 the running clock comes in to play even if the other team scores and takes it under the 36 total. You missed the boat on what I was saying. I never said tell your kids to take a knee or stop playing, what I said was when the running is in effect and you come out on your 1st possession and throw 5 straight passes (2 post patterns, 2 streaks and a slant for a TD) and then run the 2 point conversion in with your starting full back/LB it can rub people the wrong way. Don't get me wrong Ryle has a great frosh team with some great athletes but that was uncalled for. In fact the camels had a lot of their 2nd team in on defense on that 1st possession. After your 2nd team went in he did run the ball and they punched it in again but so be it. They ran it and we didn't stop them. No problem with that at all. Unless your coach lives under a rock, there was not a snowballs chance in hell of us coming back let alone scoring. You are right all is fair and what goes around comes around.
