Newport Central Catholic assistant coach Chris Burkart has spent the summer cataloging every fastpitch softball game in Thoroughbreds history, and come up with some interesting numbers.

 

Among the most impressive single-season record-holders is Stephanie Reckers, who registered a .682 slugging percentage in 2007.

 

Rising junior Casey Kohls is the Thoroughbreds’ all-time batting average leader at .415.

 

The top four single-season fielding assist makers are crowded in a bunch. Jessica Wimsatt (65 at second base in 2007), Savannah Simms (64 at third in 2007) and Michaela Ware (64 at shortstop in 2012) are the leaders, followed by Danielle Hausfeld, who had 59 assists as a pitcher in 2010.

 

Poised to pass NCC career records in 2014 are Kohls, Ware, Taylor Burkart, Kristen Schreiber and Loren Zimmerman.

 

In runs scored, Kohls (61) and Ware (56) trail all-time leader Meghan Millard (90 from 2009-12).

 

In hits, Kohls (85) trails Millard (125).

 

In games played, Burkart (84) trails Millard (109).

 

In RBIs, Burkart (46), Schreiber (44) and Zimmerman (43) are creeping up on Rachel Hardesty (58).

 

Burkart has committed just four errors while playing eight different positions for an all-time career fielding percentage of .983.
