How is everyone looking for this coming cross country season? With all the new class alignments anything could happen.

What are the new class alignments? I can't find any links to data.

These schools are moving to AA from A:

 

Bardstown, Bath County, Carroll County, Clinton County, Danville, DeSales, Fort Campbell, Gallatin County, Glasgow, Green County, Hancock County, Lexington Christian, Metcalfe County, Monroe County, Owen County, Owensboro Catholic, Shelby Valley, Somerset, St. Henry, Todd County Central, and Walton Verona

 

These schools are moving to AA from AAA:

Clay County, Doss, John Hardin, Scott, Waggener, and Warren Central

 

These schools are moving to AAA from AA:

Atherton, Bullitt East, Central, East Jessamine, Harlan County, Hopkinsville, Jeffersontown, Logan County, Madison Southern, Mercy Academy, North Bullitt, South Oldham, and West Jessamine

 

Heath, Reidland and Lone Oak will become AAA McCracken

Here is my quck and dirty preview

 

Boys:

 

Class A: Brossart = would be really surprising if they didn’t win (Michael Caldwell, Chris Loos and Eli Nienaber lead way)

 

Others to watch: Villa (Eric Baugh will have a huge season) and NCC

 

Class AA: North Oldham (Defending State AA Champ - not sure who their leader is but they have a deep roster of kids who have all run really solid times) is the favorite

 

Others to watch: Cov. Cath (Menke, Guenther, and Panoushek),

 

Highlands (Griffith Shuley, and Gray), St. Henry (Defending A State Champ – lost Wolfer, but still have Hannon), Walton Verona (Defending A runner up - return Rider and Tanebaum).

 

Class AAA: St. X is the favorite – surprise surprise (Mudd and Strreigel)

 

Others to watch: Trinity (Eckert), Daviess County (Southard), maybe Cooper (Baker, Stewart and Greehaigh, who had a strong track season)

 

Girls:

Class A: Holy Cross (Gawarecki) or maybe Brossart (Nienaber has to be healthy and running well) as favorites

 

Others to watch: Murray, Fairview, Covington Holy Cross (Bergman girls), Collegiate

 

Class AA: Highlands (Defending state AA champ led by Mearns and the Ossege girls)

 

Others to watch: St. Henry (defending 1A champ led by Hentz and Connett), North Oldham (Edmundson is top runner).

 

Class AAA: Assumption and nobody else is close – They don’t need her but if Gabriella Karas transfers from Collins as rumored they will be even more dominant and have the top 3 girls runners in the state regardless of class. Their competition is national not in the state.

 

Others to watch: Bowling Green (led by Peeples and others. BG is really really good, but they can’t match Assumption), Sacred Heart (led by Allen)

Wouldn't Maggie Allen be one of the favorites to win State this year? She's really coming into her own this year as a junior.

Of course. I listed her with Sacred Heart. I would say Allen is one of the few non Assumption kids who could win AAA girls.

Heard that Beechwood is starting XC this season. This adds a wrinkle to the girl's team title hunt, and to the boys individual race! The girl's team had a competitive and very young group last track season that all return and on the boy's side Birindelli was step for step with Baugh last track season and beat Caldwell several times, as a Freshman. Class A again is strongest in NKY as St. Henry does not move in realignment.

Given the realingment is different than the original proposal most everything I typed above is wrong.
