Lexington Lafayette 17 Boone 4 (I think)

 

The best thing I can say about this game is Boone County looked like crap and that's being nice. Lafayette had some really nice hits in this game but it seemed like every other batter BC had a chance to make play and they didn't. Very poor effort for Boone in this game.

To me it seemed like neither team wanted to win this game. HC lead 4-3 going into the 7th when Boone scored 3 in the top of the 7th and I am still not real sure how they did it, I don't think they had more than a hit in the 7th. Holy Cross invents ways to lose games.

 

Lexington Lafayette 9 Holy Cross 6

 

Good game for Holy Cross, they lead early until LL scored 6 in one inning towards the middle of the game. HC then chipped away and put some pressure on them but couldn't get that one big hit to get back into the game.

 

Lexington Lafayette is good, they just look so much different than teams up here in NKY. They have a team full of ball players, they are not overpowering by any means but are solid and can hit up and down the lineup. They seemed to be well coached also.

 

Boone County had several more girls hurt on Sat. which has to be a concern for them although I don't think any of their injuires are serious. Boone County has to play much better to have a chance to win the 9th, and they better be careful against Cooper.

 

Holy Cross did what Holy Cross does, plays well at times they hit enough to stay in games but don't hit enough to win games they field and pitch ok but always seem to make the mistakes at bad times.

Holy Cross started their #2 both games and she did pretty well, they had their #1 come in late both games. We have a district game today.

There was a 2 hour rain delay getting the games going and Boone's girls had been there for 4 hours before the first pitch. They were sluggish and didn't appear as if they were interested in playing. Boone's short stop (Sydney Foster) got hurt in the Lafayette game (cleated on a stolen base attempt and it required stitches) but it appears she'll be ready for the Districts.
