Bottom line is the Colonels are on average giving up about 2 runs more per game than Ryle or Beechwood for example, whether its errors or pitching its a lot of slack the offense has to compensate for each game. Lawler and Brown have done an excellent job relieving in very tough situations, but you would rather they come in bases empty at least a few times for team sanity.

A catcher trying to block a 89 mph fastball is a good excuse for a PB. Did that occur on Schreiver or Brown? Cant tell which is throwing 89 mph from the stats. Very impressive indeed!

My human radar hasn't worked all year.......purely an example......not even an example from CCH.....just a general example.

 

NOTE......If CCH pitchers slip below 90 mph, then they sit........

I agree 100% that all of the pitchers have done a great job.....

 

However, I don't think you can make a blanket statement comparing average runs allowed unless you also look at the schedules....

 

CCH has player ST X twice (at the time the #3), Lexcath (#1 at the time), BB (#25 at the time but culd be based on last year), NCC twice (#7 and #19 at the times), Hamilton Badin, Ryle, Connor, Dixie, Cooper (twice), I'm missing someone......CCH also played 3 games in 36 hours against 2 top 5 teams and the #19.....Take the 10-0 loss away from the #1 team at the end of that run and CCH's average goes way down.

 

Beechwood has played Grant Cty, HHS, Cooper, Connor, Campbell, St H, NCC, Scott, WV, HC......Cooper, NCC and Connor are the only comparisons.........Great start by the Tigers but I would argue that if Beechwood would add an Ohio or 3 top 5 teams from KY, their average may be up a little higher. Especially if they added them in tournament and they played 3 games in about 36 hours.........like CCh did.

 

Ryle has played Dixie, Scott, SK, Hamilton Badin, WV, Bryan Station, Boone, Cooper, Connor, CCH, and CC. There are more comparisons here. In another thread, I ranked CCH/Ryle tied for the top teams in NKY. This is part of the reason. CCH beat them head to head, but it was a game with some errors and could have gone either way.........

To sum up, don't think you can make a blanket stmt about avg runs allowed. If you had left off BW and just compared CCH and RYLE, I could possibly see your point.

Perhaps a more accurate comparison figure would be total (or average per game) of unearned runs allowed.......just a thought.

Maybe it's not a stone cold hard lock stat, but interesting one to consider, the Colonels are a great team and have played a high quality schedule, looking deep for a chink in the armor I would say runs allowed, for whatever reason. Good luck against Conner, should be another great game.

Should be a good game.....Connor, IMO may be the best hitting team in NKY and Maines, when pitching always seems to have CCH's number......
