BTW, glad to see Ms. Sarah Neace back on the mound after a week and a half off, since being hit in the head with a batted ball. She did a great job tonight, but one inning did her in. Still it is nice to see her back playing. :ylsuper:

Thanks LB. Win or lose you always seem to provide a great report. Always enjoy reading the details of the games.

Just curious is Neace now wearing a face mask?

I would think these 2 teams are the favorites to win the all A in the 9th.

Congrats to St Henry....Butts is having one heck of a senior year..

I would agree, but I would not count out Holy Cross, Newport or Beechwood. Especially Holy Cross with Moran and Herrman.

Thanks Lawnboy for the update. Just wanted to note that its nice to watch some girls that emerge from one year to the next. Gabby Stewart is one to keep an eye on. Girl obviously has worked hard and is gonna bust out in a big way. You can see it coming and its neat to see. Butts really throws well, IMO. Defense was shaky that one inning, I had it as three errors, but only one run came out.

BTW, the NewCath JV girls show that the program is doing things right. A lot of young kids that know what they are doing.

The young Ms. Stewart is a good one for sure.

This teams roster is made up of 10 8th graders and 2 frosh.

Didn't NCC lose just one game on the jv level last year? I kind of was expecting them to be the class of nky this year with that group moving to varsity. Or was the jv 7th graders last year and they are now 8ths

Send some of those 8th graders our way. The good ones :thumb:

18-1 last year, lost the last game of the year 5-3 to Boone Co. when they scored 3 in the top of the 7th.

Last years JV consisted of 6 8th graders, 6 frosh, 2 soph. & 1 jr. In all honesty, 3 of those 8th graders had NO business being on a softball field since it was their 1st time playing fastpitch plus we DON'T cut, however those 3 are not playing this year. 5 of the frosh and 1 soph from last year were all varsity starters, those the great record.

This years jv team consist of the 1st group of 6th graders (now 8th graders) that began on the newly formed Freshman team that started in 2011. The entire group is only in it's 3rd year of fastpitch, but they are athletes, and are picking up the game quite well. Hopefully this summer a good portion of them will be playing summer ball on the same team.
