St. Xavier 13 DeSmet (St. Louis) 2 (Lax)

Featured Replies

The Tigers (3-0) took the field tonight against the DeSmet Spartans from St. Louis last Friday evening.

Saint X took a commanding lead early, and ran away with the game quickly. With 5 goals from senior Brad Schickel and 3 from junior Will Roshkowski, the Tigers solidified their attack all game long.

However, the Tiger offense was complimented well by the aggressive, consistent play of defenders Evan Caffee and Owen Peters with Max Cartor playing exceptionally in the goal. Nick King, Collin Roppel and Russ Miller all showed great speed and skill while Zayne Smith showed the ability to assist at will. Coleman Webb showed promise, winning countless face offs and contributing a goal of his own late in the game. Austin Sweeney saw serious minutes for the Tigers tonight, playing aggressively.

As a unit, this Tiger squad shows gratuitous amounts of skill and potential. While the season remains young for the varsity Tigers, it is safe to say that Saint X will again be a major candidate once again for the state title.

Goals: Brad Schickel (5); Will Roshkowski (3); Cooper Sohm (2); Collin Roppel (2); Coleman Webb (1)

Good job by the Tigers.

The Kentucky teams are establishing strong records in these inter-state games.
