BIG BLACK JACK
Greenwood (5 seed) takes down Warren East (1 seed) 52-45. Greenwood was 0-8 during regular season district play. They are now assured a spot in the region tournament at WKU. Congrats to the Gators.
2-3-Zone
Wow! I love seeing upsets this time of year! Like I said in another thread regardless of regular season records it is hard to beat a team on their home court come post-season.
DragonFire
Seeding in the 14th District began in 1999. The #1 seed had NEVER LOST a district semifinal game. They were a perfect 14-0. That intersected with Warren East gaining their first #1 seed ever, and the fact that they were trying to reach the region tournament for the first time since 1997, maybe even win the district for the first time since 1989. Instead, Greenwood continued their Cinderella run to the title game. If they were to win Saturday, they'd be the first team to win the 14th District via 3 wins since Franklin-Simpson in 1991. (The district had 5 teams from 1991-1994 and again since 2011).
